This salt and pepper set is a rare find from the Bing & Grøndahl ‘Peru’ stoneware series. It was a series produced between 1970 and 1983 and has a very different and modern style to the much more classic expression Bing & Grøndahl usually has.
Bing & Grøndahl was founded on April 15, 1853, by Frederik Vilhelm Grøndahl and merchant brothers Meyer Hermann Bing and Jacob Herman Bing. Frederik Vilhelm Grøndahl was a figurine maker for the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory, and the Bing brothers, were art and book dealers. They had huge success and it is said that in the 1950s and 60s, their products could be found in one out of ten homes in Denmark.
In 1987 the company merged with its primary competitor, the Royal Porcelain Factory under the name Royal Copenhagen, whice is still a major player on the market today.
