This small candleholder by Zeuthen Keramik, is made in Denmark in the 1950’s, by
Zeuthen Keramik.
Edith Nielsen was their primary designer, responsible for their trademark style of hand applied partial glaze decoration of dots, stripes, clover leaves, small flowers or stars. This item has the distinctive dark red / brown clay base, with a random applied pattern of white globular dots. Very minimal and so reminiscent of the Danish Modern designs of the mid century era.
Zeuthen Keramik was to begin with called Nordisk Brugskunst ( Nordic Applied Art) and was founded around 1946 by Normann Zeuthen who in 1948 introduced the name “Zeuthen Keramik”.
